With all the varieties of containers out there, how can you possibly narrow down what you want and what works best for your business needs?
The world of plastic containers can be an overwhelming one, with so many choices. Plastic containers may not be your passion, but they’re certainly one of ours.
We take our job seriously and we love what we do. Bringing the latest technology, style, design and materials to all our containers is standard practice for us.
When you purchase a container from us, whether you’re buying new or used or leasing, we guarantee that you’re getting the best there is. Let’s take a look at the difference between new and used.
Here’s a little more insight into the world of plastic containers.
Just like when you’re looking to buy a car, you may consider buying a used one. Why? Perhaps the new model is out of your price range; perhaps the used model is more obtainable for your budgetary needs.
You’re still able to buy a great car, but you may be able to benefit from something that someone else no longer needs. Well, the same holds true with containers (get the clever pun?)
One of our featured plastic containers is our prized 45 x48 x34, available in both new and used. This is a gem! This container can hold between 1500 and 2000 lbs, and the container itself only weighs in between 118-145lbs, making it very lightweight.
Not only is this container stackable, making it a favorable storage option, but it’s also collapsable, which allows you to maximize your space. And yes, we have thought of everything.
This container also offers two fold-down doors with spring-loaded latches, making it easily accessible for 4 way forklifts.
If you’re looking at our used or pre-loved containers, rest assured that we only sell those in top-notch condition. Just like our new containers, they are made from High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) which is commonly used for building materials based on its strength and durability.
HDPE has been shown to be stronger than most plastics, as well as stronger than wood and even some metals. This isn’t your kids’ lego plastic! Its strength coupled with its lightweight properties, make this material very desirable in the container world. It’s no wonder that this is one of our most popular containers.
HDPE also helps make these containers great due to its resistance to chemicals and weather conditions. When shipping products in these containers, you can ship with the comfort of knowing that your goods are being safely transported and will arrive intact.
These containers are also eco-conscious since HDPE gives off no harmful fumes and is much more environmentally friendly to manufacture, and they’re built to not only last but to withstand almost anything you throw at it.
Not only are these containers a popular choice based on their durability, but their versatility too. These containers are used in the agricultural industry to keep perishable items fresh and safe during transport.
The automotive industry relies on these containers to store and ship a variety of car parts. Whether you’ve got delicate perishables or clunky car parts, these plastic containers get the job done!

We often get asked about expendable packaging vs returnable packaging, and which one is the most appropriate choice for one’s business needs.
Let’s take a look at the costs and benefits of each, giving a quick breakdown of the merits of returnable packaging vs. expendable packaging.
Reusable packaging is packaging that is used multiple times.
The Reusable Packaging Association defines returnable packaging as “pallets, bins, tanks, intermediate bulk containers (IBCs), reusable plastic containers (RPCs) and other hand-held containers and totes, trays and dunnage that move products efficiently and safely through supply chains”.
Reusable packaging are products that are designed for lasting use in a system that ensures their effective recovery and return for continuous purpose.
Products that are discarded are often associated with a lower cost, and that is true with packaging.
Read about Returnable Plastic Containers.
Comparatively, expendable cardboard and wood packaging are less expensive.
Plastic and metal packaging cost more upfront.
If the packaging will be used one or two times it’s very difficult to justify durable returnable packaging, but at some point and some number of uses, the cost justification can be made.
Plastic and metal packaging are made to carry significant weight and stack safely and they are durable materials, whereas cardboard is less durable.
Plastic containers can be stacked 17-20 feet in a containers warehouse, while containers weigh 1,500 lbs.
Metal packaging can often be stacked even higher and with more weight.
We often find that the end of the life cycle is not considered when contemplating packaging.
Wood packaging virtually has no value and perhaps even a landfill cost.
Cardboard can be recycled but the cost of gathering and preparing the cardboard will outweigh the rebate. For conversation’s sake, we can say that expendable is worthless at the end of the life cycle.
In the long term, returnable packaging will reduce costs.
Consider bulk plastic containers for packaging, that use HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) that is injection molded.
The most standard container in our industry is plastic container 45 x 48 x 34 and weighs approximately 130 lbs.
Products that can be reused many times and then recycled at the end of their lifecycle are more environmentally friendly, which is the main focus of our company.
On the other hand, products that are used once could have a bad environmental impact.
Read more about the benefits of recyclable packaging.
Whenever possible, we prefer handling returnable packaging as it’s the more environmentally sustainable and reusable choice.
In addition, it’s far superior in product protection and has the potential to eliminate supply chain costs associated with durability.
Returnables come with many benefits, including tear-resistance, easily foldable, drillable, and stitchable, fits right where non-returnables have previously been used, and a higher level of resiliency demonstrated against impacts and breakages.
Depending on care and use, some reusable containers can last as many as 100 uses and potentially more! That’s why we advocate for returnable over expendable in most cases.
As we reach the conclusion of this year, we are gearing up for an exciting 2019 ahead having recently launched our newly updated website.
This past year, Green Processing Company celebrated its tenth year in business and felt it was time for a fresh look, and more importantly, some useful product information.
Browsing our inventory, you’ll find some of our products (returnable used totes, returnable new totes, returnable used plastic containers, returnable new plastic containers, returnable metal containers, returnable used and new pallets) are listed along with pictures, dimensions, tare weight, and stackability.
