Post Industrial Plastic; Yard Clean Up

Yard Clean Up Of Post Industrial Plastic Scrap

Clean Up Your Yard By Getting Rid Of Post Industrial Scrap

Post industrial scrap is the by-product of any type of manufacturing process involving the use of plastic materials and substances.  Your operation, in dealing with plastics of various types, may have one or more generators of this type of unwanted material. It could be waste material, such as cut-off plastic pieces as a particular product is finished off; it could be off-spec finished product.  Any unwanted plastics derived from your operation qualify as post industrial plastic scrap (PIS).

The good news is that your post industrial scrap heap is probably wanted, needed, or in demand, for recycling purposes.  So here are some excellent reasons why you should consider a yard or plant clean up of your unwanted plastic scrap.

Good Reasons to Remove Post Industrial Scrap From Your Yard

There are some great reasons why you should consider a cleanup of your operations’ post industrial scrap.  Here are just three:

  • You’ll be doing the right thing – the responsible thing – for the environment.  We all know how important our planet and its health is to all of us.  When you address your PIS issue, you are helping the planet.  Plus, it is great public relations your customers should know about, and will value.
  • When you lose the clutter and nuisance of your PIS, you are also freeing up space in your yard, or in your plant/warehouse. This additional square footage or cubic footage can be used in valuable ways to your operations.
  • There’s money in it!  Our recycling program not only takes care of your PIS, we pay you for it.  Much of your plastic scrap can be reused, and we are happy to pay to get yours.

Consequences of Putting Plastic Waste in Landfills

The least desirable action you can take to be rid of your PIS is to have it taken to a landfill.  Among the reasons you should avoid this option:

  • You’ll be paying to have your plastic scrap hauled away.
  • Landfills are overburdened already; there is no value to adding to the strain already on them

An Alternative to Moving Your Post Industrial Plastic Scrap

The solution is very simple:  Let us handle the entire process for you.  Rather than taking up your time and resources to address your PIS, simply contact us.  We remove your plastic scrap, and pay you for it. It’s that easy. It’s a problem solved.

We Can Use Your Plastic Scrap

The types of plastics we can take off your hands and recycle include:

You can trust us to do the right thing with your plastic scrap.  Our expertise is in making use of exactly these types of materials.  We know what we’re doing; we’ve been at it a long time.

In addition, we can also help with the removal of other types of scrap material you may have, including your broken plastic bins, totes, pallets, and trays.

Why Do We Buy It

We have been asked many times why we buy this scrap plastic material, and we’re very happy to answer that question. Firstly, we like to do our part to ensure that we are environmentally responsible and recycling is certainly an effective way for us to do this. With more awareness of the importance of preserving our environment and being conscious of it, we feel that it’s our responsibility to do what we can.

We also look at your trash as our treasure in a way. Because post industrial plastic scrap tends to be pre contaminated, it allows for high-quality plastic recycling to be possible. We see the value in recycling this plastic material

Why You Should Contact Us for Your Plastic Scrap Removal Needs

For all the above reasons, we hope we’ve clearly explained why it’s a good idea, in many ways, to have your scrap plastics looked after by our recycling program.  Best of all, doing the environmentally responsible thing with your plastics will cost you nothing – quite the opposite – we pay top dollar for your PIS.

3 Reasons Why Our Recycling Program Can Help Your Business

plastic recycling

Post Industrial Recycling (PIR) is recycling that focuses on industrial scrap generated from the manufacturing process.

This can refer to materials that are metals or plastics. As owners and decision-makers, it makes good business sense to reuse, reduce and recycle whenever possible.

In a society that’s becoming more aware and conscious of environmental responsibility, companies need to get on board with this line of thinking to remain sustainable and eco-friendly.

This is very true when it comes to scrap metal and plastic and here’s where we come in.

Free Up Valuable Storage Space

Every business has waste lying around that is just taking up valuable space.  Our Container Recycling Program allows you to free up that space and make money while doing so.

Whatever scrap you have lying around, we’ll buy.  Whether you’ve got talc-filled, mineral-filled, glass-filled, painted TPO or unpainted TPO, TEO, TPE, HDPE, HDPE structural foam, or any other type of plastic.

We have designed our Recycling Program to be very user-friendly for our customers.

In fact, we’ll pay a premium for natural and obsolete virgin material.  Once we pick up your scraps, we inspect them, clean them and shred them.

As far as metals go, we take all that too.

Freeing up your warehousing space is an effective way to not only keep your business sustainable, but it allows you to run your operations more efficiently.

Our program involves us sending our trucks to your yards to collect scrap metal and plastic that serves your business no purpose.

In other words, it’s junk that’s taking up space that could be better used for housing valuable inventory.

Green Processing Company has 5 locations in the US and Ontario Canada.

If you are located in the US or in Ontario, we will come to you to pick up post-industrial recycling materials (plastics and metals).

What’s more, we’ll arrange for your company to be paid automatically, and we will send you a detailed statement that will show you your itemized inventory list of materials taken for recycling.

We provide you with a recycling report and a “certificate of recycling”.

You free up valuable space, you help out the environment and you make money. What could be easier?

Returnable Packaging Vs. Expendable Packaging

Returnable Packaging

We often get asked about expendable packaging vs returnable packaging, and which one is the most appropriate choice for one’s business needs.

Let’s take a look at the costs and benefits of each, giving a quick breakdown of the merits of returnable packaging vs. expendable packaging.

What Is Returnable Packaging?

Reusable packaging is packaging that is used multiple times.

The Reusable Packaging Association defines returnable packaging as “pallets, bins, tanks, intermediate bulk containers (IBCs), reusable plastic containers (RPCs) and other hand-held containers and totes, trays and dunnage that move products efficiently and safely through supply chains”.

Reusable packaging are products that are designed for lasting use in a system that ensures their effective recovery and return for continuous purpose.

Products that are discarded are often associated with a lower cost, and that is true with packaging.

Read about Returnable Plastic Containers.

What Is Returnable Packaging

What Is Expendable Packaging?

Comparatively, expendable cardboard and wood packaging are less expensive.

Plastic and metal packaging cost more upfront.

If the packaging will be used one or two times it’s very difficult to justify durable returnable packaging, but at some point and some number of uses, the cost justification can be made.

The Benefits Of Returnable Packaging Containers

Durability Of Returnable Packaging Containers

Plastic and metal packaging are made to carry significant weight and stack safely and they are durable materials, whereas cardboard is less durable.

Stackable Packaging

Plastic containers can be stacked 17-20 feet in a containers warehouse, while containers weigh 1,500 lbs.

Metal packaging can often be stacked even higher and with more weight.

Life Cycle Of Returnable Packaging

We often find that the end of the life cycle is not considered when contemplating packaging.

Wood packaging virtually has no value and perhaps even a landfill cost.

Recycling Incentives

Cardboard can be recycled but the cost of gathering and preparing the cardboard will outweigh the rebate. For conversation’s sake, we can say that expendable is worthless at the end of the life cycle.

Cost

In the long term, returnable packaging will reduce costs.

Consider bulk plastic containers for packaging, that use HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) that is injection molded.

The most standard container in our industry is plastic container 45 x 48 x 34 and weighs approximately 130 lbs.

Environment-Friendly

Products that can be reused many times and then recycled at the end of their lifecycle are more environmentally friendly, which is the main focus of our company.

On the other hand, products that are used once could have a bad environmental impact.

reusable packaging

Returnable Packaging Makes More Sense

Whenever possible, we prefer handling returnable packaging as it’s the more environmentally sustainable and reusable choice.

In addition, it’s far superior in product protection and has the potential to eliminate supply chain costs associated with durability.

Returnables come with many benefits, including tear-resistance, easily foldable, drillable, and stitchable, fits right where non-returnables have previously been used, and a higher level of resiliency demonstrated against impacts and breakages.

Depending on care and use, some reusable containers can last as many as 100 uses and potentially more! That’s why we advocate for returnable over expendable in most cases.

Plastic Scrap Recycling is a Low-Cost Solution to Creating Less Waste

Plastic Scrap Recycling is a Low-Cost Solution to Creating Less Waste

At a time when plastic scrap recycling rates are reaching an all-time high and climbing by the year, there’s still so much more that we can do as a society to move towards even higher percentages of recycling. In the past, there have been many excuses serving corporations who may have not been so inclined to come around to recycling. For decades, the infrastructure to recycle was not necessarily always there, the efficiency of moving plastic scrap recycling was questionable, and there was a cost attached to it. Today, low-cost, efficient plastic scrap recycling is the norm.

More businesses than ever before are choosing to become environmentally-oriented organizations, turning over their plastic waste for recycling. Companies such as Green Processing Company are happy to provide the resources and cost-effective infrastructure to make plastic scrap recycling a reality.

plastic scrap recycling

Throughout the past month, plastic recycling has seen its fair share of press in the news. China recently announced it was banning the import of plastic waste, resulting in countries such as Canada and the United States being forced to examine where they are to deposit their plastic waste. In the meantime, countries such as the UK have continued to publish promising data suggesting plastic scrap recycling rates to be as high as 25-40 percent of total plastic scrap waste. Though these may be considered strong recycling rates by some, we believe the world can do better.

As Canada and the United States continue to move towards higher rates of recycling as a whole, plastic scrap recycling is a category that is set to grow in the years to come. For small businesses seeking cost-effective plastic scrap recycling, it has never been easier than it is today with Green Processing Company.

Every year, North America produces a significant amount of consumer and industrial plastic scrap waste. As a response, companies such as Green Processing Company are partnering with some of North America’s top environmentally-conscious organizations to process their plastic scraps into useful products. By continuing to partner with new and existing clients across Canada and the United States, it is our hope to play a leading role in reducing plastic pollution globally. There is a wide range of plastic scrap recycling options available to businesses across North America and for more information on those options, we invite any party interested to contact us.

Industrial Packaging Solutions - Plastic Scrap Recycling

When it comes to plastic, the non-biodegradable characteristic of it means that getting plastic out of our waste streams and landfills must be a high priority. If we don’t curb the ways we dispose of plastic, the amount of it will continue to grow. Remember, every year, more than eight million tonnes of plastic ends up somewhere in the world’s oceans. Anyone can fly over the Pacific Ocean today and see a collection of plastic that exceeds the size of Texas. That big ball of plastic is just sitting there, continuing to grow. It’s events like these that highlight the accumulation of plastic in our oceans and in the environment as a serious environmental concern.

As North American cities continue to outline zero waste targets and pursue policies designed to lower the amount of waste entering our landfills, plastic scrap recycling for small businesses and consumers are going to play a sizeable role in this. Every month, Green Processing Company recycles more than 3.5 million pounds of North American plastic, gathered from plastic container recycling processes. If you are seeking a partner in post-consumer or post-industrial plastic scrap recycling, we would be happy to connect you with the resources you need to become an environmentally responsible partner. By committing to plastic scrap recycling, we can all do our part in reducing the impact of manufacturing and the costs associated with gathering raw materials. Join us in our mission to increase plastic scrap recycling rates continentally and globally!

Recyclable Packaging, The Environmental Benefits

Recyclable Packaging

What Is Recyclable packaging?

Recyclable packaging is any form of packaging that can be reused and recycled. Thankfully, it’s become easier than ever to package products with recyclable materials. A lot of companies choose to use recyclable materials for their packaging because they want to minimize their environmental impact or want to reduce their landfill waste output. No matter the reason, for these companies, their commitment to recycling is making a major difference as packaging continues to be a huge source of waste in Canada, the United States, and the world.

The advantages of recycling packaging

When we talk about the advantages of recycling packaging, it begins with knowing recycling in and of itself is the process of creating new items from used materials. When we recycle, it means we don’t need to expend the energy to procure or manufacture new materials to create a product. Subsequently, when we reuse and reuse, it prevents this material from ending up in our landfills. Across North America, we continue to have very limited space in our landfills. Anything we can do to limit what we have to put into these landfills, we should be doing.

The advantages of recycling packaging

The most recycled form of packaging in the world is aluminum cans. Did you know recycling an aluminum can saves enough energy to power your flat-screen TV for 3 hours – it’s true! Aluminum cans are far from the only form of packaging that can be recycled as paper and plastics can also be recycled. Unfortunately, not all types of plastics can be recycled which is precisely why plastic bags are so problematic and why they are being phased out in society. Packaging currently makes up a third of all waste that we send to landfills in Canada. If packaging materials are recyclable, it reduces that number which is a very good thing.

Industries Are Shifting To Recycling Packaging

Slowly, changes are happening although not fast enough. Corporations across North America are looking at ways to replace non-recyclable packaging with materials that can be recycled. In the years to come, expect to see more alternatives in packaging be introduced by corporations and manufacturers seeking ways to improve their environmental record. Needless to say, when one has recyclable packaging, it does a great deal to help our environment.

The benefits of using recyclable packaging are considerable as they save raw materials, manufacturing energy, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Having the ability to recycle packaging has also allowed our society to create economic activity and new industrial infrastructure around it.

Industries Are Shifting To Recycling Packaging

Perhaps the biggest limitation there is currently recycling packaging is the lack of recycling facilities domestically to handle the current volume of waste. Thankfully, more are being built every year. Furthermore, the market for recycled packaging is vast and in demand with companies of all sizes seeking ways to introduce recycled products into their supply chain. As we continue to build this new infrastructure for recycling packaging and as manufacturers continue to adopt recyclable packaging, this is going to take a huge chunk out of what we send to landfills and will make a hugely positive environmental impact.
