On June 27th, Green Processing Company Inc. participated in June 27th Miracle. We supplied the packaging and plastic bins for a food drive held in Windsor and Essex County.
Green Processing Company is committed to its community and is proud to have been able to help support this food drive.
The food drive collected food for local families in need, and we were happy to be able to contribute to such a worthy cause.
On Saturday, May 11th, Green Processing Company donated and sponsored a team of employees for the Hospice LifeWalk. Windsor Hospice is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2019.
It is through the generosity and dedication of community-minded organizations that they are able to offer programs and services at no cost to those who need them. All donations from the LifeWalk will stay local and will benefit more than 47 Wellness Programs available at Hospice. Through events like the LifeWalk, they are able to uphold their Hospice mandate, which is to Support, Educate and Empower those dealing with or caring for someone facing a life-altering diagnosis.
The Hospice is proud to provide compassionate care at no cost to all patients, families, and caregivers who use their services. So many of us have been touched in some way through an experience with Hospice-whether as a patient, a family member or as a volunteer. The support of the community is important and helps so many.
It was Green Processing’s honor and privilege to be part of such an amazing cause and to give back to the community.
Volunteering is a great way to give back to the community and to help those in need. On March 25th some of the office staff from Green Processing Company spent the morning cooking and serving at the Windsor Downtown Mission. This is a great team-building exercise, but it also gives us a chance to show off our cooking skills!
The Windsor Downtown Mission provides emergency shelter, a hot meal, or a food pack for individuals and families in Windsor-Essex. Their programs & services are open to anyone who comes through the doors in need of assistance. Any person who lacks basic necessities, whether it be food, clothing or shelter, will find help at the Downtown Mission.

Hi! I am Lion Mary DeMott Secretary of the Gaines Area Lions Club. I am writing on behalf of both the Gaines Area Lions Club and the Stitching Corner of Gaines. Our Lions Club is sponsoring the Stitching Corner of Gaines club. It is a fairly new club (since September 15, 2016). Its purpose was started to show what Lions are and what they support, as well as give community members a chance to get to know other community members and get help with their unfinished projects. As of now, we have 9 members.
When an Occupational Therapist found out that I had made the weighted blankets for the classroom I worked in. She asked if I could make them for other classrooms. The school offered to buy the materials and pay for my time. When I told her how expensive the pellets were, it was no longer a possibility.
Then our Lions District 11D1 started a Covered In Love Blanket Project (to be given to hospitals, veterans, seniors and other needy organizations). We asked the ladies if they would like to be a part of this program. The answer was a unanimous yes. Now we are doing both, working on personal projects, as well as a venue for other projects to help those in need.
Gaines Area Lions Club, as well as Linden Lions Club, has donated money for purchasing the fleece for tied blankets. We have made 57 fleece tied blankets so far and donated them all to first responders (police & fire) in Gaines and surrounding areas. And just in time for this cold snap, we are experiencing now.
When Steve Anderson joined our Lions Club, because of his resale and computer knowledge, he was asked if he could find us some beads. You were the answer to our prayers! The plastic pellets you donated to the Stitching Corner of Gaines have so far been used to make 6 weighted blankets, 11 lap pads, and 6 neck wraps for Autistic children primarily, as well as other special needs children. We use fleece material for their assembly as it is soft and soothing. We have been asked by others for more of these items. We do not charge anything for any of the things we have given away.
We as well as the children greatly appreciate your generosity! We could not have made them without your help.
We are hoping to continue to make useful things to be given to cancer patients, veterans, seniors, preemie babies at hospitals and wherever there is a need.

Whether it’s connecting with a local charity, or lending someone a helping hand, the holidays are a time of the year that a lot more people need help. Below are a few ideas to give back to your community this holiday season.
Many local charities in your community have a food bank that is short in supply this time of year. Cleaning out your pantry or simply spending a little extra at the grocery store can go a long way. Many of these food banks have drop-off locations throughout the city.
Giving money or donations is important but so is giving someone your time. Often people just need someone to talk to, to know that they are not alone. Grab a coffee and go check on that friend or family member and let them know you care.
Helping the homeless, assisting the local soup kitchen, and providing any kind of assistance to a local shelter is an amazing way to give back. They are often short on staff and volunteers help keep the doors open for those in need.
Many shelters need warm clothing this time of year. Donating any unused hats, gloves, coats, and boots is truly appreciated.
Consider contacting local churches, shelters, group homes, and youth centers to see what they are in most need of this holiday season. Many of these organizations gather “gifts” for young children and teens in need.
At Green Processing Company, we try to give back to the community as much as possible throughout the year, volunteering at the local soup kitchen a few times throughout the year. Every year we also pick one to two local charities to make a donation during the holiday season.
This year we donated to the Windsor Youth Center. WYC is a safe place for teens to go after school. They provide them with a hot meal, activities to occupy their time, help them with homework and several other programs. WYC relies mainly on donations and volunteers to keep its doors open. Every year they put together gift bags for the teens who don’t have a home to go to. We were able to provide them with sweaters, toiletries, hats, gloves, and some clothing.
We also made a donation to the Windsor Residence for Young Men, helping your men ages 16-24. This program provides them with a home, teaches them valuable life skills, helps them get jobs, and with independent living. Their motto “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him to fish and he will feed himself for a lifetime”. We provided them with food, cleaning supplies, toiletries, and of course, recycle bins!
There are many ways to give back to your community that don’t involve just giving money.
We encourage everyone to do what they can to help your community and those in need this holiday season.
